We offer a huge variety of soils and soil products. We have ready to use bonsai soil and individual bonsai soil components for you to mix your own.

Our ready to use bonsai soil is a mix of pumice, lava, bark, and compost. It can be used for indoor and outdoor bonsai. Many customers use this bonsai soil as is, others mix it with more pumice or lava. Everyone has unique growing conditions and develop unique soil mixes. If you have a local bonsai club to join they are a great source of local bonsai soil information.

We also import high quality Japanese akadama, kanuma, kiryu, hyuga, all used in soil mixes for bonsai trees.

Our pumice and lava are from local sources. They are both graded and cleaned and are great soil additives. We also use them as top dressing in the nursery.

Boons’ Mix is the best mix we’ve ever used for our bonsai tree collections. It consists of equal parts akadama, lava, pumice, a small amount of granite and charcoal. If you have never seen roots grown in this mix compared to most bagged soil mixes that you can purchase at garden centers you would be amazed.
